Program Note:

This piece was born out of an improvisation, that was born out of a conversation with older friends, who ruminated solemnly on the lost future of early 90s techno. Their thoughts on the music are rooted in a past that’s lapsed. So, the stabbing piano riffs that once represented the present moment and nothing else, now barely refract in the haze of daily life.

The piano riffs took on what I considered sonically to be a nocturne but stylistically it’s not a nocturne at all. It’s some sort of twitching crossbreed of a techno tune attempting to be something else.
